Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti Chief Austin Edeze, has solicited the continued cooperation and support from all the Traditional Rulers of Ekiti State to enable the Institution take its pride of place among its peers.

Chief Edeze made the declaration when he led a delegation of the Council on a special “thank you” visit to the Chairman of the Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers and Ologotun of Ogotun Ekiti, Oba Samuel Oladapo Oyebade in his palace at Ogotun-Ekiti on Thursday, 22nd June, 2017.

While appreciating all the Oba in Ekiti for their admonition and support to the wellbeing of the Polytechnic over the past years, the Governing Council Chairman thanked the Oba for their efforts in making the Polytechnic Environment conducive for learning and for wading into feuds within the Institution and settling such when the need arises.

He stressed that the Council had come to thank all Ekiti Obas as well as seek for their Royal blessing and encouragement to enable the Council have the strength and courage to do the right thing and move the Polytechnic forwards.

Responding on behalf of the Ekiti Obas, the Ologotun of Ogotun Ekiti, Oba Samuel Oyebade said he was elated to have the Polytechnic’s Council members visit him, noting that he has been following the Polytechnic’s history and progress since its movement from Ondo State to Ekiti State and he is proud that Aare Afe Babalola was not just part of the history in the struggle for the Polytechnic’s existence in Ado-Ekiti but had played significant roles in its development.

Oba Samuel Oyebade however advised government that Polytechnic education should be enhanced to engage more in practical teaching than theory so that their products can come out as employers and not employees.

He assured that, though his tenure as Chairman was due to end by July 2017, he would inform his colleagues of the appreciation visit and canvas more support from them to ensure that the Polytechnic enjoy steady development until it becomes a degree awarding Institution.
