FPA Starts 2017 With Project Commissioning

The Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti started the New Year 2017 with the commissioning of a new building complex for its Centre for Entrepreneurship Development and Vocational Studies {CEDVS}.

The event which took place on Tuesday, 4th January 2017, was indeed a giant stride when viewed against the backdrop of events and happenings in the Polytechnic in the last three months of 2016.

Commissioning the centre, Rector of the Polytechnic Dr Theresa Taiwo Akande remarked that it was indeed a land mark development and expressed gratitude to God for making the day a reality.  She also thanked all those who worked assiduously to see that the project became reality.

While commending the leadership and staff of the Centre for their dedication, Dr Akande said that the Entrepreneurship centre of the Polytechnic had become a force to be reckoned with among other tertiary Institutions in the Country, as other Institutions have been urged to emulate the skills and Vocational training of the Centre.

The Rector noted that the Centre is dedicated to Skills and Entrepreneurial training of staff and students as well as all those with similar visions to actualize their dreams adding that the centre is focused at creating employment for many Nigerians.

She particularly thanked the Director of the centre for the efforts and commitments at seeing that the project became a success and encouraged him not to relent in his effort as the Lord who rewards will not forget him.

Earlier in his remarks, the Director of the Centre, Engr. Adetunji Jimoh recalled that the Centre was built through TETFUND special intervention as their contribution to the pioneering effort in Entrepreneurship Education by the Centre.

He said the commissioning of the centre was only the beginning of the journey as more surprises were expected in the New Year and thanked the Rector for her solid support for the Centre and everyone who in one way or the other contributed to the success of the Centre.

The CEDVS Director called on Ekiti Government to collaborate with the centre for the benefit of the state citizens who should take advantage of the Centre being in Ado - Ekiti. He used the opportunity to encourage youths to go back to Agriculture as time has proved that it is the only solution to the joblessness of the youths and the current economic recession in the country.

Meanwhile, the second semester examination of the 2015/2016 academic session has been rescheduled to start from Monday 16th January, 2017.

A statement by the Polytechnic’s spokesman Ade Adeyemi-Adejolu urged all the Full-Time students to conclude all their registration formalities, including payment of all necessary fees before the examination date, stressing that no indebted student will be allowed to write the examination.
