ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR NATIONAL DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES

1. SCHOOL OF BUSINESS STUDIES

A prospective applicant must possess WASC/SSCE/NECO/NABTEB/GCE O’Level with Credit passes in five (5) relevant subjects as stipulated below:

(a)     Accountancy

          (i)      English and Mathematics

          (ii)     Any one (1) of Economics/Commerce, Accounting/Book Keeping,

(iii)        Plus any two (2) of Biology/Agricultural Science/Animal Husbandry/Chemistry/ Physics, ICT/Data Processing/Computer, Economics/Commerce, Accounting/Book Keeping, Government/Civic Education, Geography

(b)     Banking & Finance

          (i)      English and Mathematics

          (ii)     Any one (1) of Economics/Commerce, Accounting/Book Keeping,

(iii)        Plus any two (2) of Biology/Agricultural Science/Animal Husbandry/Chemistry/Physics, ICT/ Data Processing/Computer, Insurance, Economics/Commerce, Accounting/Book Keeping, Government/Civic Education, Geography

(c)     Business Administration & Management

          (i)      English and Mathematics

          (ii)     Any one (1) of Economics/Commerce, Accounting/Book Keeping,

(iii)        Plus any two (2) of Biology/Agricultural Science/Animal Husbandry/ Chemistry/ Physics, ICT/Data Processing/Computer, Economics/Commerce, Accounting/Book Keeping, Government/Civic Education, Geography

(e)                  Office Technology and Management

          (i)      English and Mathematics

          (ii)     Any one (1) of Economics, Commerce, Accounting, Book Keeping

(iii)    Any one (1) of Government, Civic Education, CRS, IRS

(iv)        Plus any one (1) of ICT, Computer, Data Processing, Literature-in-English, Shorthand, Typewriting, Office Practice, Biology, Agricultural Science, Animal Husbandry, Physics, Chemistry

(f)      Purchasing and Supply

          (i)      English and Mathematics

          (ii)     Any one (1) of Economics/Commerce, Accounting/Book Keeping,

(iii)        Plus any two (2) of Biology/Agricultural Science/Animal Husbandry/Chemistry/ Physics, ICT/Data Processing/Computer, Economics/Commerce, Accounting/Book Keeping, Government/Civic Education, Geography, Marketing, Insurance

 

2.   SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING

A prospective applicant must possess WASC/SSCE/NECO/GCE O’Level with Credit passes in five (5) relevant subjects as stipulated below. 

(a)     Agricultural Technology

(i)      English, Mathematics, Chemistry and one (1) of Biology/Agricultural Science/Animal Husbandry

          (ii)     Plus any one (1) of Physics, Economics, Geography, ICT, Data Processing, Computer,

 Statistics, Food & Nutrition

(b)     Agricultural & Bio-Environmental Engineering Technology

          (i)      English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry

(ii)     Plus any one of Biology/Agricultural Science/Animal Husbandry, Technical Drawing, Economics, Further Mathematics, ICT, Data Processing, Computer,  Statistics

(c)     Civil Engineering

However, candidates with NABTEB O’ Level results must have a credit pass in a related Trade Subject in addition to the Credit passes in five (5) O’Level subject requirements.

          (i)      English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry

(ii)     Plus any one (1) of Technical Drawing, Building Drawing,  Economics, Further Mathematics, Data Processing, ICT, Computer, Statistics, Civic Education, Geography, Building Construction, Block Laying, Decoration, Plumbing and Pipe Fitting, Carpentry and Joinery, Woodwork.

(d)     Electrical/Electronic Engineering

However, candidates with NABTEB O’ Level results must have a credit pass in a related Trade Subject in addition to the Credit passes in five (5) O’Level subject requirements.

          (i)      English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry

(ii)     Plus any one (1) of Technical Drawing, Further Mathematics, Economics, Geography, Electrical Installation & Maintenance Works, Radio/Television and Electrical Works, Appliances Maintenance and Repairs, Instrument Mechanics, Building Drawing, Basic Electronics/Electricity, ICT, Data Processing, Computer

(e)     Mechanical Engineering

However, candidates with NABTEB O’ Level results must have a credit pass in a related Trade Subject in addition to the Credit passes in  five (5) O’Level subject requirements.

          (i)      English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry

(ii)     Plus any one (1) of Biology, Agricultural Science, Animal Husbandry, Further Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Building Drawing, Technical Drawing, Metal Work, Auto Mechanics, ICT, Data Processing, Computer

(f)      Minerals and Petroleum Resources Engineering Technology

          (i)      English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry

(ii)     Plus any one (1) of Economics, Geography, Statistics, Further Mathematics, Technical Drawing, Biology, Agricultural Science, Animal Husbandry, Building Drawing

 

3.     SCHOOL OF ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES

A prospective applicant must possess WASC/SSCE/NECO/NABTEB/GCE O’Level with Credit passes in five (5) relevant subjects as stipulated below:

(a)     Architectural Technology

          (i)      English, Mathematics, Physics

(ii)     Plus any two (2) of  Chemistry, Technical Drawing/Fine Art/Building Drawing, Economics, Geography, Biology/Agricultural Science/Animal Husbandry, Civic Education/Government, Data Processing/ICT/Computer, Book Keeping/Accounting, Music, IRS/CRS/Literature-in-English, Plumbing and Pipe Fitting/Building Construction/Block Laying, Electrical Installation & Maintenance Works/Decoration/Painting/Woodwork/Carpentry & Joinery

 

(b)     Building Technology

          (i)      English, Mathematics, Physics/Chemistry

(ii)     Plus any two (2) of  Physics, Chemistry, Technical Drawing/Fine Art/Building Drawing/ Building Construction/Block Laying/Woodwork/Carpentry & Joinery/Painting/Decoration/ Plumbing and Pipe Fitting, Commerce/Government, Biology/Agricultural Science/Animal Husbandry, Geography, Further Mathematics,

(c)     Estate Management and Valuation

(d)     Quantity Surveying

          (i)      English, Mathematics and Physics

(ii)     Plus any two (2) of  Geography, Economics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science/Animal Husbandry, Government/Civic Education, Further Mathematics, ICT/Data Processing//Computer, Book Keeping/Accounting, Carpentry & Joinery/Woodwork/ Fine Art/Technical Drawing/Building Drawing

(e)     Surveying & Geoinformatics

          (i)      English, Mathematics and Physics

(f)      Urban and Regional Planning

(iii)    Plus any one (1) of Economics, Commerce, Government, Civic Education, Technical Drawing, Building Drawing, Fine Art, Book Keeping, Accounting, ICT, Data Processing, Computer

 

4.       SCHOOL OF SCIENCE AND COMPUTER STUDIES

A prospective applicant must possess WASC/SSCE/NECO/NABTEB/GCE O’Level with Credit passes in five (5) relevant subjects as stipulated below:

(a)     Computer Studies

          (i)      English, Mathematics and Physics

(ii)     Any two (2) of Chemistry, Further Mathematics, Biology/Agricultural Science/Animal Husbandry/Food and Nutrition, Geography/Economics/Commerce, Data Processing/Computer/ICT

(b)     Food Technology

          (i)      English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry

(ii)     Plus any one (1) of Biology, Agricultural Science, Food and Nutrition, Animal Husbandry

(c)     Glass and Ceramic Technology

(i)      English, Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics

(ii)     Plus any one (1) of Biology, Agricultural Science, Animal Husbandry, Economics, Geography, Technical Drawing, Building Drawing, Fine Art, ICT, Data Processing, Computer, Statistics, Woodwork, Carpentry and Joinery

(d)     Mathematics and Statistics

(i)      English and Mathematics

(ii)     One (1) Basic Science subject from Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Agricultural Science

(iii)    Plus any two (2) of Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science/Animal Husbandry, Government/Civic Education, Economics/Commerce, Further Mathematics, Statistics, ICT/Data Processing/Computer

(e)     Science Technology

          (i)      English, Mathematics Physics and Chemistry

(ii)     any one (1) of Biology/Agricultural Science, Animal Husbandry

 

HIGHER NATIONAL DIPLOMA

School of Business

The minimum entry requirements into the HND programme in the School of Business Studies include:

(a) all the requirements for admission into the ND programme in Business Studies;

(b) a minimum of Lower Credit Pass (CGPA of 2.50) in ND Business Studies or related programme; and

(c) a minimum of one year post-ND cognate work experience in Internship.  In exceptional cases, ND diplomates with a Pass (CGPA of 2.00 – 2.49) in the ND examination, with two or more years of work experience in the specific field may be considered for admission into the HND programme.

School of Engineering

To be admitted into the Higher National Diploma programme, a candidate must possess:  (i)  the minimum entry requirements for the National Diploma; 

(ii)  Lower Credit pass at the National Diploma level; and 

(iii)  one year of mandatory relevant industrial work experience.

School of Environmental

 

 

Candidates applying for the Higher National Diploma programme must have the requirements for admission into the National Diploma programme and in addition must have successfully completed:

(i) the National Diploma programme with a grade not below Lower Credit from a recognised institution; and

(ii) a one-year post-ND industrial training in a relevant industry.

School of Science and Computer Studies

The minimum entry requirement for the Higher National Diploma programmes in the School of Science and Computer Studies include

(a) all the conditions and requirements for National Diploma (ND) in the relevant programme;

(b) at least a lower credit level pass in ND in the relevant programme and one year post-ND industrial training in a relevant Industry. OR a pass in ND in the relevant programme with at least two years industrial training in a relevant industry.

Higher National Diploma Progammes (HND) in Science Technology in Biology/ Microbiology, Applied Chemistry, Physics with Electronic and Biochemistry options

(i) The applicant must possess the requirements for National Diploma as listed above

(ii) The applicants must possess at least a lower credit level pass in National Diploma in Science Technology programme.

(iii) The Applicant must possess a minimum of one (1) year post National Diploma in  Science Technology programme.

(iv) In exceptional cases, National Diploma with pass in the ND examinations with two or more years          of       cognate        experience    in       his/her         specific         field may      be          considered    for      admission     into    the HND programme.

 

(v) Candidate offering Applied Chemistry at HND must possess credit in Chemistry at SSCE/ NECO/NABTEB Candidate offering Physics/Electronics at HND must possess credit in Physics at SSCE/ NECO/NABTEB. Candidate offering Biochemistry at HND must possess credit in Chemistry  and Biology at SSCE/NECO/NABTEB. Candidates offering Microbiology at HND must possess credit in Chemistry and Biology at SSCE/NECO/NABTEB.
