PROTOCOL, INFORMATION AND PASSAGES UNIT (PIP)
The Federal Polytechnic Ado – Ekiti is an acknowledged/acclaimed industrial leader in its sector of Polytechnic education in Nigeria, whose main objective is to produce knowledgeable and innovative diplomates.
Perhaps this was why it adopted an end-view aim (motto) as “Training for Skill and Expertise” with a view to being recognised as a “Technological Institution known to be disseminating qualitative and practical knowledge for meaningful contribution to local and national technological development”. The vision has further been endorsed by the mission of the Polytechnic with a clear mandate “To train and develop self-reliant manpower for sustainable technological development of Nigeria”.
It has been emphasised over time that the extent to which the Polytechnic could attain its goals depends largely on its perception by its targets publics and all its stakeholders and this perception of its image and reputation can be better accomplished through integrated perspective engineered by a more compact Public Relations/Corporate Relations Unit, hitherto known as Information and Protocol, but repositioned in 2011 as the Protocol, Information and Passages (PIP).
The PIP, as a vital organ in the Information, and Communication and Public Relationship Process of the Polytechnic in the drive to attain its ideals, has existed from inception of the Polytechnic, under the super-ordinate or overall supervision of the Rector and Chief Executive, the number one Public Relations Officers.
Therefore, given the importance of Public Relations in the life of every Corporate Organisation, PIP has a mandate to carry out the overall Public Relations functions of the Polytechnic with the focus to earn and sustain goodwill from among its total publics and all stakeholders with a view to engaging them for a correct corporate image and positive perception of the Polytechnic.
