Members of staff of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti have been advised to eschew vices such as bitterness, jealousy, pride, backbiting among others and embrace the virtues of love, if their aspirations for the Polytechnic in the New Year are to be granted by God.
The admonition formed part of the vocal points at the Inter-Religious New Year Prayer meeting held on Wednesday, 3rd January 2018, at the Conference Centre of the Polytechnic.
The Acting Rector, Dr. Dayo Oladebeye who summoned the prayer said the meeting became imperative to commit the Polytechnic into the hands of God in the New Year.
Dr. Oladebeye observed that the Polytechnic needed many prayers particularly, on God’s intervention for the Institution to surmount the numerous challenges of finance confronting it.
He prayed and hoped that the year 2018 would be a year of plenty for the Polytechnic, while advising staff to be diligent in their various duty posts.
Earlier in his short exhortation, the Coordinator of the All Christian Fellowship in the Polytechnic, Engineer Sunday Faluyi, said staff should be prepared to walk uprightly in the New Year in order to achieve greatness.
The Cleric who quoted copiously from the book of Psalm chapter 65 verse 11 and Psalm 15 verse 1-4, said members of staff needed to shun peddling wrong information and unfounded rumours in the New Year for their prayers to be met by God and in the end inherit the kingdom of God.
On his part, the Chief Imam of the Polytechnic’s Muslim Community, Alhaji Saka Lawal, said the New Year would be glorious for staff, cautioning however that they must shun all acts capable of incurring the wrath of Allah.
While appealing to the Acting Rector to make staff welfare his priority, the Chief Imam advised staff to do their part by refraining from envy, gossip, rumour mongering and other forms of vices capable of bringing the Institution down.
During the first in the series of Inter-religious New Year Prayer meeting, which had over 200 staff in attendance, Prayers were offered for the success of the Acting Rector as well as for the goodwill of the Polytechnic and Nigeria in general in the year 2018.
Giving the vote of thanks, the Registrar, Mrs. Sade Adediran appreciated members of staff for coming to the prayer meeting and harped on the fact that staff should love one another and shun all acts capable of bringing the name of the Institution into disrepute.
Mrs. Adediran also harped on the need for the Polytechnic staff to find time to pray regularly for the well-being of the Institution in their various homes.
