About FPA

The Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti is one of Nigeria’s foremost tertiary institutions dedicated to technological education and skill development. It is located along Ijan Ekiti Road in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria. The current Rector of the Polytechnic is Engr. Dr. Temitope John Alake.

The institution was originally established in January 1977 in Jos, Plateau State, as a College of Technology with an initial intake of 350 National Diploma students. In 1978, it was relocated by the Federal Government to Akure, Ondo State, and subsequently upgraded to a full-fledged Polytechnic in 1979 following the promulgation of Decree No. 33 of 1979, which gave legal backing to its operations.

In 1982, the Polytechnic was moved once again to its permanent site in Ado-Ekiti, while the facilities in Akure became the foundation of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA).

Over the years, the institution has grown remarkably in size, scope, and reputation. As of 2016, it had over 10,000 full-time and part-time students and more than 1,500 academic and non-academic staff across its various schools and departments.

The Polytechnic offers a wide range of National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes through its schools of Business Studies, Engineering, Environmental Studies, Science and Computer Studies, and Agriculture & Agricultural Technology.

With the motto “Training for Skill and Expertise,” the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti remains committed to producing technically competent graduates capable of contributing meaningfully to Nigeria’s industrial and technological development.
