The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti, have applauded the contribution of Institute Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) to the development of accountancy profession in Nigeria and it’s known for its integrity, competence and professionalism.
The Rector, Engr, DR. Temitope John Alake made these remarks during a courtesy visit by the District Chairman of ICAN Ado-Ekiti, Olukemi O. Oludare, noting that the polytechnic is ever ready to collaborate with the institute that the graduates from school of financial studies and business studies are professionally certified. He noted that such collaboration would enhance students’ academic and professional growth, while also fostering long-term partnership between both institutions.
The Rector also appreciated the ICAN chairman for donating textbooks to the institution school library, describing the gesture as a valuable contribution to students’ learning resources.
In her remarks, the ICAN chairman emphasized that the primary objective was to promote early professional development among students. She explained that the initiative seeks to identify, mentor and guide students at an early stage in their academic journey towards becoming chartered accountants. This, she noted, would expose them to professional career pathways, improve career pathways, improve employability, and enhance their global relevance in the labor market.
Furthermore, the visit was described as a strategic step towards strengthening economic growth and competitiveness by developing skilled accounting professionals. The chairman also encouraged both academic and non-academic staff to take advantage of ICAN’S support initiatives, such as payment of annual professional dues and sponsorship for zonal and annual conferences. These efforts are designed to promote continuous professional development and active participation in the accounting field.
