FPA seeks collaboration with CIBN to boost professionalism

The Rector, of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti has described the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) as a beacon of Professionalism, Excellence, Innovation and Competence.

The Rector, Engr. Dr. Temitope John Alake made these remarks during a courtesy visit to him by the National President of CIBN, Prof. Pius Deji Olarenwaju. Dr. Alake who was represented on the occasion by the Deputy Rector Academics, Dr. Aderemi Akinyemi stated the polytechnic is ever ready to collaborate with the institute to bring about the deepening of town- gown relationship and ensure that the graduates from the Department of Banking and Finance are professionally certified.

Dr. Aderemi Akinyemi further noted that the proposed partnership would create opportunities for joint academic and professional development initiatives, including research collaborations, training programmes, and certification pathways for students and overall contribution to national economic development.

The CIBN president Prof. Pius Olarenwaju commended the institution for its commitment to educational excellence, knowledge development, professionalism and competence, noting that he was Pleased with prudent management of resources and encouraged the institution to “Maintain the Legacy”. Knowledge, he said is not stagnant. Hence, the integration and linking of the institution to some allied and cognate departments of the CIBN.

Prof. Olanrewaju called for joint research with the institution as a way of curtailing the “Japa Syndrome”, through the banking sector, aiming to develop sustainable financial strategies that will strengthen economic growth within the institution and across the country.

The Chief Executive officer and Registrar of the CIBN, Dr. Akin Morakinyo called on the students of the Institution to combine academic learning with practical and professional experiences. He advised them to pursue professional certifications alongside their academic programmes to enhance career prospects and global competitiveness.

The engagement between the two institutions is expected to foster stronger institutional linkages, improve professional standards in banking education, and contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s economic advancement.

 Dr. Akinyemi expressed profound appreciation to the CIBN delegation for honoring the institution with their visit and for their commitment to fostering collaboration with the polytechnic.
