FCC URGED TO GIVE DUE CONSIDERATION TO TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS IN CARRYING OUT ITS OVERSIGHT FUNCTION

FRSC to Synergize with Federal Polytechnic

A call has been made, urging the Federal Government to mandate its agencies saddled with the responsibilities of regulating recruitments into Federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies MDAs to give special consideration to tertiary institutions in paving ways for hitchfree recruitments in view of their peculiarities.+

Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, Dr. Dayo Oladebeye made the call on Monday, 31st August, 2020 when he received in audience Chief Sesan Fatoba, the Ekiti State representative at the Federal Character Commission,

Higher Institutions of learning, the Rector said have peculiar needs for manpower improvement as a necessity for programmes accreditation to meet up their core mandate for promoting excellence in the Research, Teaching and Learning process and should therefore be given preferential treatment in the areas of improving and replenishing its personnel needs from time to time as  may be necessary.

Dr. Oladebeye who heartily welcomed the Commissioner informed that the Polytechnic recently mounted seven new programmes, even as plans were still under way to establish more programmes in order to meet the needs and yearnings of its immediate environment, hence the need to recruit necessary manpower to make up for the new programmes and those yet to be established.

He further noted that as the First Alumnus Rector of the Polytechnic, he was determined to make the Institution better than he met it, hence, his avowed commitment to improving staff welfare and promotion of a peaceful and clement academic environment.

Earlier in his remark at the occasion, Chief Sesan Fatoba a technocrat and former Cabinet Commissioner in Ekiti State said the visit to the Polytechnic was to familiarise himself with all his environment of operation, so as to be able to serve well and to inquired into areas of meaningful collaboration with the Institution.

The FCC, he said was set up to checkmate inequality and injustice in appointments into Federal MDAs and prevent Zonal or Ethnic group domination in Federal establishments as the Commissioner has power to take any necessary action including prosecution of defaulters.

Also in her remarks at the occasion, the Registrar of the Institution, Mrs. Kehinde Ekanem affirmed that the Polytechnic was not only law abiding, but believes in fairness, justice and equity and would always do everything possible to abide by the principles of the Federal Character in its operations.

She however emphasised on the need for the exploitation of areas of mutual cooperation between the two Federal government’s organisations.
