Alumni Association Charged To Be Partners In Progress
The Alumni Association, The Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti has been charged not to relent in its effort at improving and contributing to the growth and development of the Institution.
This charge was given by the Rector, Dr. Temitope John Alake during the Handing over ceremony of two blocks of Hostel Accommodation to the Polytechnic on Wednesday, 24th January, 2024.
Dr. Alake noted that for years, a lot had been left undone on the part of the Alumni body but in recent years, there has been a paradigm shift in the association under the leadership of the current National President, Dr. Oyedokun Abiodun.
He commended the alumni body for their contribution to the Institution hitherto, their loyal and patriotic attributes and charged them not to relent in their efforts.
The Rector stated that there is need to put some measures in place, such as the perimeter fencing, portals that will be in charge of the hostel and security to check the inflow of students. He added that the Management is willing to help in such area as it would fast track the immediate use of the hostel, noting that it will go a long way in easing the accommodation needs of the students.
Earlier, the National President of the Alumni Association, Dr. Oyedokun Abiodun called on the President, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu to urgently address the problem of inadequate facilities bedeviling the Polytechnic Sector.
Dr. Oyedokun opined that the dearth of hostel facilities in the Polytechnic was impacting negatively on teaching and learning as the students would have to first think of where to stay to be comfortable thereby affecting their ability to concentrate on their studies.
He further called on the President to look into other areas of concern which included proper funding of the Polytechnic education, creation of National Polytechnic Commission and complete abolishment of the dichotomy between Higher National Diploma holders and the University graduates noting the dichotomy has continue to impart negatively on productivity.
He also assured that the Association would continue to work hand in glove with the Management of the Institution by making good use of the resources at its disposal for the development of the Polytechnic.
