Alumni Body Celebrates Akande in Grand Style
In a grand ceremony filled with excitement and joy, the Alumni Association of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti celebrated the 5th substantive Rector of the Institution, Dr. Mrs. Taiwo Theresa Akande in a grand style.
The event held at the Polytechnic Alumni building brought together families, friends, Alumnus and well wishers who had passed through her tutelage to honour the hard work, dedication and achievement of the 5th Substantive Rector.
Speaking at the occasion, which also served as the Annual General meeting of the body, the National Alumni President, Surv. (Dr.) Oyedokun Abiodun noted that her tenure was a period of significant growth and transformation for the institution.
“The Alumni Association started in December 7th during the tenure of Prof. Ajaja and when Dr. Akande came on board, they both deemed it fit to commence the Alumni building structure and In 2014, the first chapter was inaugurated in Port Harcourt”
Surv. Oyedokun stated that Dr. Akande’s unwavering faith in the graduates of the polytechnic has led to the employment of many Alumni and has also provided many opportunities to contribute to the growth of their alma mater.
The Alumni National President added that her leadership was characterized by empathy, understanding and a genuine desire to uplift others, and that the reception is a testament to the profound impact she has made on lives.
“She went beyond the call of duty, supporting students in need and extending a helping hand to those who were struggling. Her kindness and compassion have touched the lives of countless individual”, he noted.
He expressed his heartfelt gratitude for her selfless service and unwavering support and prayed that her legacy will continue to inspire future generations of the Polytechnic.
Acknowledging her invaluable contribution to the Polytechnic, the Deputy Rector, Academic, Dr. Remi Akinyemi praised her dedication and commitment to driving progress effortlessly, despite the various challenges she faced during her tenure as Rector.
Dr. Akinyemi expressed deep gratitude for her resilient character, which has helped in mentoring and uplifting others including himself and has in turn helped her in overcoming life challenges victoriously.
He further described Dr. Akande as an icon whose contribution to the growth and development of the Alumni body will not be forgotten.
He prayed that God will grant her good health to enable her to render more service to humanity.
In her remarks, Mrs. Busola Olorunda, appreciated the former Rector for instilling good values in her and for always standing for the truth.
Mrs. Olorunda stated that her good works will continue to linger on in the heart of everyone who has passed through her and prayed that she will enjoy the fruit of her labour.
Looking resplendent in a shimmering gold gown, with a smile plastering across her face, Dr. Akande expressed deep gratitude to all the members of FEDPAAA and other well-wishers in the Polytechnic for the honour accorded her.
Dr. Akande who went down memory lane stated that the last eight years of her thirty-eight years in the services of the Polytechnic had taught her valuable lessons. She therefore admonished everyone in the gathering to be watchful of what goes out of their mouths as it could either make or mar the life of a person.
The former Rector also challenged every member of the Polytechnic community to support the leadership, uphold the faith at all times, and to stand in total service and conviction in the omnipotence and justice of God.
She appreciated the National Alumni President, Dr. Oyedokun for deeming it fit to celebrate her, noting that it has served as healing to her soul and hoped that the event will serve as a wakeup call to enable everyone serve selflessly in whatever position they find themselves.
She prayed that FEDPAAA will continue to grow from grace to grace and will always be led by good leaders who carry the love and will to serve selflessly in all respects.
Giving the vote of thanks, the State Chairman, of the Alumni Association, Mr. Ayoade Adesola noted that the great turn out of people has served as a testament of the good works displayed by the former Rector during her tenure in the Polytechnic.
He appreciated everyone for gracing the occasion and prayed that God will continue to uphold her in all her future endeavours.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of cash gifts and other valuable items to the celebrant.
