ASCON Boss Canvasses Regular Training For Staff
The need has again been stressed for workers in corporate organizations to be exposed to regular and relevant trainings in expectation of maximal productivity and goal delivery.
The Director- General of the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON), Mrs. Cecilia Gayya gave the position at the opening of a 5- day leadership training for Management Staff, Senior Registry Staff and some Non- Teaching Staff of the Federal Polytechnic Ado Ekiti.
Mrs. Gayya who spoke through the ASCON’s Head of Department, Gender Studies, Mr. Stanley Ukah, stated that educational qualifications alone could not help any organisation’s staff, hence the need for periodic trainings to improve their capacities.
According to the ASCON boss, the training retreat held at the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti for five segmented categories from Top Management Staff to selected Senior Registry Staff will among others be delivered under the themes: “Leadership and Management Workshop (LMW) for Management Staff and Senior Registry Staff” as well as “Performance Improvement Workshop (PIW) for Non-Teaching Staff”
The ASCON Director General, who appreciated Rector of the Polytechnic for approving the programme, stated that some carefully selected facilitators have been deployed to handle quality delivery of the papers and hence, charged participants to make good use of the opportunity to acquire necessary knowledge and skills.
Declaring opened the workshop, the Rector, Dr. Dayo Oladebeye reiterated the commitment of his administration towards capacity building of staff of the Polytechnic and expressed optimism that the training will engender staff’s career development and further culminate into a higher productivity from all to the Institution.
He therefore charged and implored staff members selected to participate in the 5-day leadership capacity building programme to make the training worthwhile by paying rapt attention to all the lectures and make every session relevant, as he further enjoined them to see the training as an opportunity to positively impact the Polytechnic various Management and administrative activities.
Earlier in her welcome address, Registrar of the Polytechnic, Mrs. Kehinde Ekanem stated that staff training had always been the focal point of the Oladebeye’s administration.
She also enjoined the participants to make the best use of the training as it improves their personal development and administrative enhancement.
