Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti Emerges Overall Winner Of 20th NIPOSSGA
The Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti is at it again, having clinched the top spot and the overall winner of the just concluded 20th NBTE/Nigerian Polytechnic’s Senior Staff games NIPOSSGA held at the Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku.
The final medal table, just released, indicated that the ‘Team Ado Ewi’ again emerged as the overall winner of the 20th NIPOSSGA , as it happened at the 19th edition, held in IMT Enugu two years ago.
The Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti team became champion of the NBTE /Nigerian Polytechnics’ Senior Staff games again hauling a total of 17 medals, comprising 5 Gold, 7 Silver and 5 Bronze.
Contrary to the earlier speculation, the reenacted champion from Ado Ekiti beat their Yaba College of Technology counterpart to the second place as first runners-up with 5 Gold; 6 Silver and 5 Bronze or so.
The Football Team from Ado Ekiti had displayed classical soccer by superlatively winning the two group matches and the quarter final, but narrowly lost the semi final game by 1-0 and eventually beat the Ibadan Polytechnic team by 3-1 at the third place match played during the closing ceremony last Saturday.
By the back to back overall Victory in the 20th NIPOSSGA at the Ogwashi-Uku games, which upheld and confirmed a similar feat at the previous games held at Enugu, the FPA team has again established it’s prowess as serial winner in NIPOGA and NIPOSSGA games.
It would be recalled that the ‘Team Ado Ewi’ was also the first runners-up at the 18th edition of NIPOSSGA held in Kaduna and became champion at the 19th and 20th editions, just as the FPA team at the students level was also the first runners-up at the 19th NIPOGA games at Nasarawa and champion of the 20th edition of NIPOGA held at Ilorin in February 2020.
