Fresh Students Admonished on Skill Acquisition.
Fresh students of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti, have been admonished to take full advantage of learning a trade, develop a skill, and equip themselves with the knowledge and expertise that will set them apart for a great future.
The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti, Dr. Temitope John Alake, who gave the admonition at the Matriculation Ceremony for the 2024/2025 Academic Session, noted that education is not just about acquiring certificates, but it is about becoming problem solvers and innovators in their chosen fields.
Dr. Alake maintained that the Federal Government is redirecting the aspirations of graduates from the traditional pursuit of white-collar jobs towards self-reliance, empowerment, and sustainable livelihood through blue-collar jobs.
“I am proud to announce that our Polytechnic has been selected and certified by the Federal Government as one of the Institutions in Nigeria to train and award certificates under the National Skills Qualifying Framework (NSQF) Programmes”.
He stated that the fresh students are blessed to be admitted into an Institution that stands tall among its peers, adding that the consistent influx of students competing for admission into the Polytechnic speaks volumes of the quality training, mentorship, and certification offered across the five schools and thirty-six accredited departments.
Dr. Alake was pleased to inform the gathering that all the programmes and courses of the Institution have been fully accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and other relevant regulatory bodies at both the National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) levels.
He further maintained that the Institution remains committed to expanding its horizons and pursuing additional programmes, accreditation by the grace of God.
The Rector added that the driving force behind the success of the Polytechnic has always been the remarkable caliber of academic and non-teaching staff who guide and inspire the community.
“Our faculties comprise renowned scholars, seasoned professionals, and internationally acclaimed experts with vast experience in their respective fields. Presently, the Polytechnic has over two hundred PhD holders in the academic and non-teaching cadres.
The Rector therefore implored the students to see the Matriculation Ceremony as a golden opportunity to aim and attain higher academic laurels and to equip themselves for a rewarding future that is filled with possibilities.
He also urged them to be responsible with the use of social media, attend lectures regularly and punctually, make judicious use of their time, shy away from all forms of unethical behaviours, familiarize themselves with the students’ Information Handbook to know about the rules and regulations guiding their conduct as students of the Institution.
