STAFF WELFARE, I’II CONTINUE TO UPHOLD-ALAKE
The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti Engr. Dr. Temitope John Alake has reiterated his commitment to the welfare of staff of the institution promising to continue to make it a top priority of his agenda.
Dr. Alake made this postulation when the zonal leadership, South West of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), led by the Zonal Chairman Comrade Nurudeen Masopa paid a courtesy visit to him on Friday 7th June, 2024.
The Rector who was philosophical in his message opined that if only we can be human and kind to one another, this world will be a better place for all to live in. “We must be human and kind hearted, as you don’t lose your brightness by lighting others”, he said.
Dr. Alake who is also a former Chairman of ASUP in the Institution implored the leadership of the Union to always counsel their members with the aim of bringing out the best in them.
Speaking on the occasion, the ASUP Zonal Chairman Comrade Nurudeen Mosopa appreciated the Rector for creating a rancour free and clement working environment for the staff to strive, describing it as a significant departure from what it used to be in the past.
He described Dr. Alake as someone who can talk, who can act and who is an achiever and further urged him to continue to create a harmonious working relationship for the good of all.
The Chairman, further opined that there is no good system that cannot be improved upon as it is the collective responsibility of the Union and Management to come up with institutional template to take the Polytechnic to greater height, “For a good job should not stop”, he added.
Comrade Masopa implored the government to continue to accord Union Leaders their due respect for when they are placed in positions of authority, they are better administrators as examples abound.
There should be a departure from the past where Union Leaders are always arms in hand and at logger heads with those in authority, as this is the time to accord appropriate dignity to unionist.
