Police Chief Tasks Staff to Cooperate with New Acting Rector

Management, Staff and Students of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti have been charged to be loyal and support the Acting Rector, Dr. D.H Oladebeye, in his quest at transforming the institution, to make it rank among the best Polytechnics in the country.

The Commissioner of Police, Ekiti State Command, Mr. Abdullahi Chafe, gave the charge while on a courtesy call to the Management of the Polytechnic.

The Police boss who led other top officers of the Command to the Polytechnic, on a New Year security survey also appealed to the staff on the need to cooperate with the Acting Rector so that the Institution would move forward.

While appealing to the Acting Rector to fight for staff and make their welfare a priority to him, the Police Commissioner observed that the conduct of both staff and students of the Institution showed that they were law abiding, with particular reference to the staff and students at the Continuing Education Centre of the Polytechnic.

While welcoming the commissioner of Police to the Polytechnic, the Chairman of the Governing Council, Chief Austin Edeze, appreciated the visit and recalled the visit of the entire members of the Governing Council to the Command in June, 2017, where the CP demonstrated a high level of professionalism and great sense of responsibility towards the Polytechnic.

In his remarks, the Acting Rector, Dr. Dayo Oladebeye thanked the CP for supporting the Polytechnic during its trying periods and appealed to the Police in Ekiti State to help the Polytechnic Community to prevent infiltration of some security challenges like kidnapping, armed robbery and other violent crimes in the State.

Dr. Oladebeye further enjoined the Police Chief to use his good offices to help in curbing the excesses of Fulani herdsmen who were fond of destroying crops worth millions of Naira on the Institution’s demonstration farms among others.

Responding, CP Abdullahi Chafe said the command was on top of the situation and would leave no stone on turned at making sure that the Polytechnic was save and conducive for teaching and learning as well as the entire Ekiti State.

The Registrar, Mrs Sade Adediran, while commending the efforts of the Police appealed to the Command to continue the friendship that had long existed between the Polytechnic and the Ekiti State Police Command.
