The Rector, of the Federal Polytechnic Ado – Ekiti Dr. Dayo Oladebeye has expressed the desire of the current management of the Institution to turn it into a world class Institution “where conditions for learning and research are rated excellent.
Dr. Oladebeye made this statement while inaugurating at the Delta State Chapter of the Federal Polytechnic Ado – Ekiti Alumni Association, on Saturday 4th August, 2018 in Warri Delta State.
The Rector who described the event as epoch making passionately appealed to the Alumni Association to come to the aid of their alma-mater by giving back to the Institution that has contributed to their being what they are today.
The call he said has become inevitable as funds have constituted a limiting factor to our desire “as we are very short of funds to propel our Polytechnic to the heights of our dream”, hence the need for the Alumni to synergise and partner together with other stakeholders to make this dream a reality, noting that government funding has continue to dwindle over the years in view of the ever competing responsibilities of government.
Citing examples around the world, Dr. Oladebeye noted that in the developed world, Alumni Associations are not only just crucial stakeholders but promoters of further development of their Alma-mater.
In his address at the occasion, the National President of the Federal Polytechnic Ado – Ekiti Alumni Association Surv. Oyedokunb A. Abiodun said that the Association has concluded plans to have on Alumni village on the campus, as a parcel of land has already been aloted for this purpose. He added that Association, is also planning to construct hostel accommodation for the students and build Lecture threatre in each of the schools in the institution.
Surv. Abiodun who is also the National Vice president of the Nigerian Institution of Surveyours said the Alumni Association has been up and doing in the affairs of the Institution in the past, as it has constructed an Alumni building on campus, co-sponsorship of the Institution first International Conference, provision of borehole and supply of photocopier for use at the Bursary and Exams and Records Units of the Institution among others.
The Chairman of the newly inaugurated Chapter Mr. Franklin Ejaife promised to mobilise members of the Association for the upliftment of their Alma-mater as they are more now determined to do this than ever before.
