Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti, Dr Dayo Oladebeye has been bestowed an award for “Exceptional Leadership” by the National Association of Polytechnic Students NAPS.
Receiving the award while playing host to the NAPS leaders in Ado Ekiti, Dr. Oladebeye charged students in the Nigerian Polytechnic sector to go all out and change the wrong perception in some quarters that the Polytechnic sector is place a for students that are academically less endowed.
Dr. Oladebeye, who is the first Alumnus to be appointed as Rector of the Polytechnic, stressed that contrary to the wrong impression held about Polytechnic education by some and since Technology is the way for Nigeria’s development, only first rate individuals are good enough to be trained in the Polytechnic sector.
Earlier, the students’ leaders who were in the Polytechnic under the auspices of the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) appealed to the Management of the Polytechnic to help the Students’ Body achieve some of its core mandates, which included the purchase of a NAPS Students’ Union bus among other support desired for some of its activities.
The Students’ leaders described Dr. Oladebeye as not only a pride to the Polytechnic sector, but as an Exceptional Rector who had brought an uncommon transformation to the Polytechnic in less than one year in office.
While receiving the award, Dr Oladebeye thanked the Students’ body for the award and said it would spur him into doing more for the development of the Polytechnic sector, noting that the welfare of both staff and students would remain a priority to the Management of the institution under his watch.
