TAKE YOUR SIWES TRAINING SERIOUSLY - STUDENTS CHARGED

Students of the Federal Polytechnic Ado Ekiti have been charged to take their Industrial Training exercise seriously, acquire more knowledge, be self-confident and develop an entrepreneurial spirit that will make them stand out and be good ambassadors of the Institution.

The Rector, Dr. Temitope John Alake gave the charge while declaring open a one-day SIWES Orientation Programme for ND 1 Students, held at the Polytechnic’s Sports Complex on Wednesday, 20th September, 2023.

Dr. Alake maintained that the experience becomes imperative as it serves as a buffer for smooth transition from the classrooms’ theoretic knowledge to a practical experience and further help in the application of the knowledge already acquired.

The Rector urged the students to pay attention to the lectures and Information that would be passed across to them by the well-experienced members of Staff and the Official’s of the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), saying that their performance at the end of the training will be graded and added to their Grade Point (CGPA).

He also appealed to the ITF officials to ensure that every student that participates in the scheme receive his/her approved allowances timely and adequately. Adding that it will further encourage them to contribute their quota effectively, to the development of the respective organizations the students are attached to, while acquiring the necessary skills needed for the development of the country.

 

In her remarks, the Registrar, Mrs. Kehinde Ekanem who noted that the SIWES scheme is an integral part of the students’ assessment and a continuation of their studies, urged them to gather the needed technical and practical knowledge in the industries and companies related to their field of study.

Mrs. Ekanem who was represented by the Director Academic Affairs, Mrs. Abimbola Adewumi advised the students to dress appropriately and be polite as it would help promote a professional atmosphere, enhance productivity and demonstrate respect for clients.

The Registrar who spoke on the theme “Dress Ethics, Moral Uprightness and its Corresponding Value as a Tool for the Prevention of Sexual Harassment in the Work Place”, further encouraged the students to be morally upright, focus on learning and contributing to help create a barrier against unwanted behaviours from others.

 Earlier in his lecture, the Industrial Training Fund Area Manager, Mr. Gabriel Oladimeji stated that the Industrial attachment was set up to help students from various Institution of higher learning have a firsthand experience of their fields of study and to help them defend their certificates wherever they find themselves in the future.

Mr. Oladimeji who spoke on the “Use of Logbook and other ITF Documents”, emphasized on the submission on the Students Commencement of  Attachment Form (SCAF), which will be given to them by the SIWES Unit of the Institution to the nearest ITF office after it must have been filled, stamped and signed by the Organization or Company of their choice.

He added that at the end of the four months training, the Logbook and the end of programme report sheet (ITF Form 08) must be submitted with a passport photograph attached to each of them, as failure to do so would attract the nonpayment of the approved allowance they were entitled to get at the end of their industrial training.

 

The ITF Area Manager also urged the students to be of good behaviour as they would be visited by the Institution based supervisor, the Industry based supervisor and the ITF based supervisor before the end of their trainings.

In his lecture, Engr. Kayode Omotayo who spoke on SIWES and the Development of Medium Skill Expertise in the Nigeria Economy stated that the Industrial attachment is an important aspect of their core practical training outside the Polytechnic.

 Engr. Omotayo who opined that every skill acquired is a major contribution to wealth creation, urged the students to give themselves to the rules of the trainings, adding that it would help in developing manpower, thereby contributing to the development of the Country.

 Earlier in his welcome address, the SIWES Coordinator, Dr. Olalekan Araoye appreciated the Rector and other members of Management for their support towards having a successful orientation programme.

 

Dr. Araoye noted that one of the key benefits of SIWES is to foster a sense of responsibility and self-reliance in the students. He therefore charged them to immerse themselves in the professional environments, learn the value of punctuality and discipline, which will instill in them a strong work ethic and the resilience needed to thrive in their future careers.

Five thousand Naira (N5,000) for ND result with or without Transcript.

Five thousand Naira (N5,000) for HND results with or without Transcript.

Ten thousand Naira (N10,000) for ND and HND results.

Step 3: Make the payment through Remita into the Polytechnic Reference account with the following code: 1000060528.

Step 4: Send your request to the email address verification.reg@fedpolyado.edu.ng. The verification process will begin promptly, and the outcome of the verification will be communicated to you via email.
