The Federal polytechnic Ado-Ekiti has officially been crowned as the overall winner of the 20th NIPOGA game held at Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin.
The Team FPA, otherwise known as the Ado-Ekiti Antelopes, which came second two years ago at the game held in Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa emerged first at the Ilorin games with 21 Gold, 19 Silverware and 31 Bronze, making a total of 71 medals haul.
Lagos State Polytechnic, which earlier took the top spot at the Nasarawa game was dethroned at Ilorin to second position with 19 Gold, 24 Silver and 27 Bronze (70 medals), while The Polytechnic Ibadan clinched the third position with 14 Gold, 14 Silver and 14 Bronze, totaling 42 medals in the recently concluded 20th NIPOGA Games, tagged Ilorin 2020.
Although a total of 45 Institutions participated at the Ilorin Games, which officially held between 8th and 15th of February, 2020, only 32 of them registered their names on the overall medal table, while 13 others failed to win a single medal.
Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Dayo Oladebeye, who received leaders of the contingent in his office, thanked the Chairman and the members of the Sports Committee, the Head Coach and her Technical crew as well as all the Athletes, who represented The Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti in the 20th game.
Dr. Oladebeye assured that a befitting reception and sports award ceremony will be held later in the year to appreciate their audacity at winning away in another State.
