The Acting Registrar of the Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti Mr. S. A. Adeyemi-Adejolu has appealed to the workers of the Institution on the need to show understanding and cooperate with the Management in moving the system forward.
Mr. Adeyemi Adejolu gave the admonition while responding to the leadership delegation of the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) and Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Polytechnics (SSANIP) during their respective congratulatory visits to his office on Monday 18th and Tuesday 19th December, 2023.
He appreciated the leaders of NASU and SSANIP respectively and emphasized that he would operate within the ambit of extant rules and regulations. He stated that it is absolutely impossible for a tree to make a forest and therefore solicited for their support, cooperation, and loyalty in moving the system forward.
Above all, he craved for unity and solidarity within the top echelon of Registry, Bursary and Library Staff in the process leading to the appointment of substantive Registrar and other vacant Principal Officers position so that competent officers could be selected among those that applied within the system.
During their visit on Monday, 18th December, 2023, the Chairman NASU, Comrade Sunday Abubakar noted that NASU members were extremely elated when the news broke out that the he had been appointed to head the Registry at this time and season. The Chairman, who spoke on behalf of the Union, stated that he had unshaken faith and confidence in the intellectual capacity of the Acting Registrar to deliver on the mandate given and that the Institution is in safe hands with his enigmatic character.
He also pleaded that the Acting Registrar should be fair in his dealing with members of the Polytechnic community using his wealth of experience as the Polytechnic’s spokesman for over two decades. He therefore prayed for God’s divine guidance within the time he would be in the saddle as the Acting Registrar.
In a related development, the leadership of SSANIP led by Comrade Chief Sunday Akomolafe paid a courtesy call on the Acting Registrar on Tuesday, 19th December, 2023, to felicitate with him on his divinely arranged appointment as the Acting Registrar. The Chairman, SSANIP who spoke on behalf of the Union Leaders stated that they were highly pleased with the announcement and that they saw his appointment as the will of God.
The Chairman, SSANIP said that he would not mince words in stating that the Registry is not well positioned in the scheme of things in the Institution and that it is high time drastic measures were taken to reverse the trend. He pointed out that Registry as it is presently, is not in the right shape and that he believe the Acting Registrar would use a new leadership style as a socialite to address some of the burning issues. He stressed that the Acting Registrar should not hesitate to give the Rector good administrative advice in the overall interest of the system.
