Catholic Bishop Sues For Enduring Peace at Fed. Poly, Ado–Ekiti

The peace currently being enjoyed in the Federal Polytechnic Ado – Ekiti has been described as an act of God arising from the conscious efforts of the Council and Management at constantly engaging the various stakeholders of the Institution.

Bishop of the Ekiti Catholic Diocese, Most Reverend Felix Femi Ajakaye, stated this, while playing host to the Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado – Ekiti, Chief Austin Edeze, who paid him a courtesy visit to Bishop’s Pastoral Centre’s Office in Ado – Ekiti.

Most Reverend Ajakaye who observed that the Polytechnic had been in the news for the wrong reasons in the recent past thanked God for the peace that had returned to the Institution. While advising the Chairman to run an open-door administration and lead the Council with the fear of God, the Cleric admonished Chief Edeze to make staff welfare a priority so that the prevailing peace in the Polytechnic would be maintained.

Earlier, the Chairman, Chief Austin Edeze, said the visit to the Bishop was borne out of the need to familiarise himself with his Lordship and the Ekiti Catholic Diocese in general.  He further stated that the members of the Governing Council had upon their inauguration hit the ground running in the Polytechnic, having already been kept abreast of many of the challenges confronting the Polytechnic.

While thanking God that some of the problems in the Polytechnic were gradually being surmounted within available resources to the Institution, Chief Edeze added that the Council had also been engaging the various Unions and key stakeholders in dialogue and mutually beneficial relationships that had brought the needed peace to the Institution.

Chief Edeze told the Bishop that the Polytechnic needed a lot of prayers that would make it become the cynosure of all eyes in the comity of Polytechnics and Nigeria’s Tertiary Education in general.

Most Reverend Felix Ajakaye who later assured the Chairman of the support of the Ekiti Catholic Diocese for the Polytechnic, later prayed for the successful tenure of the Chief Austin Edeze-led Council and the Polytechnic at large.

In a related development, the Chairman, Chief Austin Edeze was also at the home of the Emeritus Bishop of the Ekiti Catholic Diocese, Most Reverend Michael Olatunji Fagun to brief him on the developments in the Polytechnic since his assumption of office in 2017 as the 10th Governing Council Chairman of the Polytechnic.
