The Rector, Dr. Dayo Oladebeye has been bestowed with an award of the Southwest Nigeria outstanding Rector of the year. The Award presentation ceremony, which was held at the Redeemers University, Ede, Osun State on Tuesday, 21st May, 2019 was organized by a body known as the Southwest Nigeria Education Awards.

Aside from the Outstanding Rector’s Award conferred on Dr. Oladebeye, the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti also bagged a corporate award as the Outstanding Polytechnic of the year.

According to the Convener of the event, Pastor Honey Olawale Fasua, the event was put together to appreciate Institutions and academics that had used their good offices to uplift the society that produced them, in terms of their calling which is Education.

While laying emphasis on the credibility of the award, Fasua said a lot of measures had gone into the screening processes. These according to him included strict surveillance of the activities of the awardees including discreet interviews of staff and students across the Institutions where their Chief Executives were nominated for the awards, adding that the recipients had been thoroughly screened for the awards.

While congratulating the award recipients, Pastor Fasua advised them not to relent in doing their very best to uplift humanity and the world at large.

The award presentation Ceremony,which was in different categories, included Southwest Outstanding Private Secondary Schools of the Year, Southwest Outstanding Tutor of the Year, Southwest Lecturer of the Year as well as the Southwest Education Icon of the year, which went to the Vice-Chancellor of the Ladoke Akintola University (LAUTECH) Prof. M.O. Ologunde.

The event was later spiced with a paper entitled “Curbing the Emerging Infectious Diseases on the African Content” which was presented by the Director of the African Centre of Excellence at Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State; Prof Christain Tientcha Happi.

In a related development, the Rector, Dr. D.H. Oladebeye has appreciated the various stakeholders of the Polytechnic for the encomiums and show of love following the conferment of the Southwest Outstanding Rector of the year on him and the Southwest Outstanding Polytechnic, on the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti.

Dr. Oladebeye, who expressed appreciation to the Polytechnic Community described the twin-awards as the resultant effect of staff’s dedication and doggedness to duty. The Rector, in an appreciation circular to the Polytechnic Community, disclosed that he was overwhelmed by the myriads of messages and presence of various critical stakeholders of the Polytechnic at the venue of the event later dedicated the awards to the members of the Polytechnic community.
