Ensure Synergy Between The Students And The Management: Union Leaders Charged.
The Newly Elected Students’ Union Leaders have been charged to maximize the skills, vigour and mental capacity that God has embedded in them for productivity in order to achieve great success in the future.
The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti, Dr. Temitope John Alake who gave the charge at the inauguration of the newly elected Students’ Union Leaders encouraged them not to indulge in activities that would tarnish the image of the Institution.
Dr. Alake who noted that ‘a call to service is a call to responsibility ‘ admonished the Union Leaders to engage themselves with assignments that will help improve the System.
“You have a future to build, so take decisions that will enable you have a smooth running of the system and in turn build your strength and character for a better future”.
The Rector also urged them to make meaningful requests and constructive suggestions that would help improve the development of the students they represent and the Polytechnic at large.
He further encouraged them not to abandon the main reason why they were in the Polytechnic but try as much as possible to manage their time and resources, desist from any form of social vices that could damage the reputation of the Institution and treat each other with respect.
The Deputy Rector, Administration, Dr. Michael Akinola opined that the past union performed excellently well and urged the Students Leaders to build on what they have met on ground. He also implored the students to always dress properly as the way you dress is the way you will be addressed.
The Registrar, Mrs. Kehinde Ekanem, who was represented by the Director, Academic Affairs, Mrs. Yetunde Adewunmi urged the Students’ Union Leaders to lead by example and establish themselves for future possibilities as whatever they do will speak a lot about them in the nearest future .
She therefore prayed for the strength and enablement to serve.
Representing the Deans of the various schools, The Dean School of Science and Computer Studies, Dr. Jide Afolayan advised the Students’ Union Leaders to make judicious use of their time and the resources at their disposal for the betterment of the students’ body.
He also urged the student Leadership to work hand in glove with the authority as the Management is ever ready to give listening ears to their requests.
The Dean, Students Affairs, Dr. Sunday Olajide congratulated the elected officers who has been saddled with the responsibility of piloting the affairs of the Students’ Union activities for a period of 10-12months.
Dr. Olajide implored the Students’ Union Leaders to make their agitations and demands known through the 4Cs of conflict resolution to achieve fruitful results.
The outgone FPASU President urged the new President to put God first, be active and to serve diligently on the discharge of his duty.
The New President, Adebayo Samuel Ayorinde appreciated God for the grace bestowed on him to represent the students. His team he said, has decided on programmes to embark upon to bring about tremendous success to the Institution with the help of God and the Management of the Polytechnic.
He charged the students to abide by the school rules and regulations and focus on the main reason why they are in the Institution.
