Entrepreneurship: A way out to sustainable living – Rector
Participants at the 4th International Conference of the Centre for Research, Innovation and Development have been challenged to leverage on the power of entrepreneurship as the acquisition of several certificates no longer sustains comfortable living.
The Rector, Dr. Temitope John Alake gave this charge at the 4th International Conference of the Centre for Research, Innovation and Development (CRID) 2023 with the theme; “improving the Nigeria Economy through innovative Entrepreneurship, Technological and Infrastructural Advancement” held on Thursday 22nd, August 2023 at the conference hall.
In his opening Remarks, Dr T. J. Alake emphasized on the need to get a skill and be a master in the field since entrepreneurs rule the economy of the nation saying, “You cannot dip your hand into someone’s pocket to bring out money without offering a service”, for the government alone cannot drive the economy.
Dr Alake while congratulating the leadership of CRID enjoined all to be problem solvers as the economy shrinks; we should learn to be problem solvers by creating and meeting the needs of the society, as the white-collar jobs are no longer available.
The conference, he noted, is a solution driven conference hence its communiqué should not be left on a shelf to gather dust but rather circulated well by implementing the outcome for the good of all.
Earlier, in his welcome address, the Director of CRID Dr Charles Ologunde showed his appreciation to God almighty, the Rector, the Management and everyone present at the conference for making the event a great one. He urged all participants to pay rapt attention since the conference was channeled towards raising great entrepreneurs that will affect the Nation’s economy positively.

He stated that in a situation where inflation is over 22.7% in the nation, only technological advancement and infrastructural development could bring about a transformation of the nation’s economy.
In his presentation, the lead paper presenter Dr. Adebayo Oguntuase noted that to achieve a different result in business, things needs to be done differently from how it has been done in the past. He stated that infrastructural development is a way of attracting foreign investors into any country and this brings about a positive transformation on the nation’s economy.
Dr. Oguntuase furthermore said, “No nation can develop meaningfully without the use of technology” hence it is advised that all institutions take up the challenge of delivering quality entrepreneurship.
