Learn How To Behave Well – Rector
The student body has been tasked on the need to be morally upright, having a strict regard for good character and integrity.
This charge was given by the Rector of The Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, Dr. Dayo Oladebeye when the NANS representatives paid the Institution a courtesy visit with a view to mediating and pleading with the Management to reinstate the suspended Students’ Union Government (S.U.G.) as well as help look into the matters leading to the expulsion of some erring students of the Institution.
The Rector, who spoke through his Deputy Rector, Academic, Mr. Olusegun Dada stated that students are not awarded certificate on the platter of learning alone but also on character.
While responding to the plea of NANS representatives with regard to the suspension of S.U.G. and expulsion of erring students, he stated that the Management took such decisions consequent upon the vandalisation of School Health Centre and New ETF project/building (still under construction).
He further maintained that even though the Management is student – friendly, it would not fold its arms and watch unscrupulous miscreants destroy hard-gotten school properties under the unjustifiable guise of “protest”. Hence, the School Management will not condone any act of misdemeanor and rascality from students.
Mr. Dada, however, assured the NANS representatives that plans are ongoing with a view to re-instating the suspended S.U.G. via election as well as assured them that expelled students will soon be pardonably restored.
He however urged the students’ national leadership to appeal to their fellow students to be morally behaved and be good ambassadors of their respective families.
Earlier, the NANS Senate President, Comrade Chukwuemeka Okafor and NANS president, Ekiti State Chapter, an Alumnus of the Institution, Comrade Olanrewaju Olamide had pleaded with the Management to help re-instate the expelled erring and culpable students, as well as lift the ban on suspended S.U.G.
They stated that the expelled students may end up constituting themselves as elements of social rascalities and public nuisance, if their studentship is not restored.
They assured the Management that students’ body at the national level is currently working on documents where seminars for students, students’ election and other student – related issues will be taken care of.
In his vote of thanks, the Dean, Students Affairs, Dr. Olajide appreciated the Management for warmly receiving the students’ national body.
He equally appreciated the NANS representatives or embarking on a fact – finding mission as he urged and charged them to always exploit and uphold the 4cs of unionism in their conduct and operation.
